Kieran Wallace - Queer Fashion

Artist statement:

Queer Fashion is a photographic project created by Kieran Wallace as part of ME6739 Production, Curation and Exhibition module. The series looks into the impact Queer culture has had on Fashion looking at what items of clothing can be deemed as ‘fashionable’.

The objective for the project is an exploration how gender ambiguity can be created through the use of fashion. This has been done by styling models using clothes originally intended for the opposite gender whilst looking into areas of Queer studies such as ‘androgyny’ and stereotypes of LGBT icons such as George Michael and Annie Lenox.

The Four images selected for Exhibition display a range of examples of how gender ambiguity can be portrayed through the use of Fashion. Each showing different examples, styling and models to work as a group and to stand out as their own individual piece of art.
